Although Mariam and Laila's ultimate freedom was different (Mariam: free from life and its troubles; Laila: free from Afghanistan and its troubles), explain how their journey's served as a catalyst towards each others freedom.
Both Laila and Miriam dealt with different issues but somehow their problems were the same. Miriam was dealing with losing her mother and trying to fit in while being pawned off to whoever took her but left and went to a better place. Laila needed to be free and she left Afghanistan and went to Kabul and soon became free she got married and began a better life. The stories come together to show how you can leave and have a better life with hope and determination.
